That sound you heard last Sunday at about 4:10 PM Eastern? That was the 1972 Miami Dolphins popping the corks as the last of this year’s undefeated teams fell.
With their 19-14 setback to Kansas City, Mike McCarthy’s Green Bay Packers won’t be matching the 2007 Patriots by finishing the regular season 16-0, or equaling the Dolphins’ unblemished 1972 campaign.
But the Pack still have the inside track on earning the #1 overall seed in the NFC and home-field advantage through the playoffs. A win on Christmas night against the Chicago Bears will lock that up with a week to spare, and the defending champs’ head coach spoke with Westwood One’s Jason Horowitz ahead of the big game against their NFC North rivals.
