Sean May would not be denied. The North Carolina star used his dad Scott’s title run with Indiana in 1976 as inspiration for a dominating performance all his own.
May poured in 26 points in North Carolina’s 76-70 victory over Illinois in the championship game, leading the Tar Heels to their fourth national championship and handing head coach Roy Williams his first.
May was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
