NEW YORK, NY – Madison Square Garden has served as the stage for some of the most dramatic, thrilling, and emotional battles in the long and storied history of college basketball.
This year’s NIT Final will not make that list, but you won’t find Stanford complaining.
Owners of just a six-point halftime lead, the Cardinal exploded for 44 second-half points en route to a 75-51 blowout victory over Minnesota to claim the 2012 Men’s NIT championship.
Stanford was sparked by Aaron Bright, who came off the bench to record game-highs of 15 points and 6 assists. Chasson Randle and Anthony Brown also scored in double-figures for the Cardinal, with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Rodney Williams led Minnesota with 12 points.
Bob Papa and Steve Lappas called the action on the Westwood One Radio Network.
