Masters Round Three Highlights As They Happened

AUGUSTA, GA – The third round of the 2012 Masters is underway at Augusta National.

Fred Couples and Jason Dufner share the lead at five-under after the first two rounds and Couple and Dufner will be in the final pairing when they tee off at 2:45 PM Eastern.

7:20 PM ET: Round three is in the books. Peter Hanson leads at -9 and he’ll play with Phil Mickelson in the final pairing on Sunday. Mickelson is one shot back at -8. Louis Oosthuizen is at -7 and will play with Bubba Watson (-6) in the second-to-last pairing.

7:05 PM ET: Louis Oosthuizen finishes with a birdie at 17 and a bogey at 18 and goes into the clubhouse at -7 for the tournament.

6:37 PM ET: Matt Kuchar finishes with a birdie to get to -5 on the tournament.

6:15 PM ET: Phil Mickelson buries a birdie putt at 18 and Lefty is in the clubhouse at -8.

6:02 PM ET: Hanson knocks it stiff at 18 then taps in for a birdie and he cards a seven-under 65 and heads to the clubhouse at nine-under for the tournament.

5:50 PM ET: Sweden’s Peter Hanson is the first player to get to -8 in the 2012 Masters after a birdie at 17.

5:33 PM ET: And now Phil Mickelson is in the mix at -7 after a gorgeous chip leaves him with five feet for birdie. Lefty nails it.

5:25 PM ET: Louis Oosthuizen matches Hanson’s birdie with one of his own at 12 to get to -7 and a share of the lead.

5:18 PM ET: Your new Masters leader: Peter Hanson, who rolls in an 18-footer at 15 to get to -7 and sole possession of the lead.

4:55 PM ET: Phil Mickelson came to the par-five 13th at two-under on his round and -4 for the tournament. He rolls in an eagle at 13 to move into a tie for the lead.

4:35 PM ET: Louis Oosthuizen birdies the 8th and he’s into a share of the lead as well.

4:22 PM ET: Matt Kuchar has made the turn and he’ll start his second nine with the outright lead after nailing a long birdie putt at the ninth.

4:05 PM ET: Dufner bogeys the 6th and he’s now one shot back of the leaders Kuchar and Westwood. Couples is four-over through six.

3:54 PM ET: Matt Kuchar’s good day has gotten better. He rolls in a birdie at the 7th to get to -5 and a share of the lead.

3:49 PM ET: After his drop, Rose chips through the green, then putts past the hole again from just off the green. He makes the tricky comebacker for bogey, but drops to -3 for the tournament.

3:41 PM ET: Dufner gives a shot back at four and he’s now tied atop the leader board with Lee Westwood. Meanwhile, after getting to -4 with a birdie at 14, Justin Rose dunks his second shot at 15. He’ll need to scramble to make par.

3:25 PM ET: Jason Dufner birdies the second hole then knocks it stiff at the third. But he can’t drop the birdie putt and he’ll remain at =6 on the tournament. Lee Westwood is one shot off the lead at -5.

3:13 PM ET: For what it’s worth, Tiger Woods finished with a 72 today, which leaves him right where he started the day: +3 for the tournament.

3:10 PM ET: So much for a lack of action on moving day. Matt Kuchar holes out from the bunker on four to get to within one of the lead. Meanwhile, at 8, Sean O’Hair rolls in a birdie to get to -3.
