OMAHA — Kent State hung on to earn its first ever College World Series victory and send the number-one overall seed Florida packing in a 5-4 win Monday.
Josh Pierce got out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth inning as the Golden Flashes held on to eliminate the Gators.
Kent State advances to play South Carolina in an elimination game on Wednesday.
