SAN FRANCISCO — Graeme McDowell fired a Saturday 68 to move into a share of the lead with Jim Furyk at one-under par after three rounds of the 2012 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club.
McDowell, who won the 2010 Open farther down the California coast at Pebble Beach, shot a three-under 33 on the back nine to move to the top of the leaderboard.
Furyk, who shared the lead with Tiger Woods after two rounds, carded an even-par 70 to remain at one-under for the tournament.
Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden is two shots back and Ernie Els, Lee Westwood, Blake Adams and Nicholas Colsaerts are a further shot behind at +2. Tiger shot a five-over 75 and is +4 for the tournament.
17-year-old amateur Beau Hossler held his own among the world’s best, finishing at even par 70 to remain +3 overall.
