SAN FRANCISCO — Vernon Davis caught two touchdown passes and the San Francisco defense kept Detroit at bay for most of the game as the 49ers beat the Lions 29-17 on Sunday Night Football.
Alex Smith completed 20 of his 31 passes for 226 yards and those two touchdowns to Davis, while Frank Gore rushed for 89 yards and a score for the Niners.
Matthew Stafford was 19 for 32 for 230 yards with a TD and an interception for Detroit.
