Georgia: Keep holding the Gators’ ground game in check and on offense protect the football.
Georgia Verdict: Florida’s rushing attack never did get going following up a 45-yard first half with just 36 yards after the break. On offense, Aaron Murray made up for a three-interception first half by going 8 for 16 for 116 yards and a touchdown in the second half. And crucially, he didn’t throw another pick.
Florida: Reestablish the run game and build the offense from there.
Florida Verdict: Mike Gillislee was the lone bright spot on an offense that managed just 81 net yards rushing. Gillislee picked up 77 yards on a 22 carries for an average of 3.5 yards per carry. While Florida was able to move the ball a bit in the second half, turnovers were the key factor in the game going to the Bulldogs. The Gators coughed it up 6 times – including a back-breaking fumble as they were driving for a potential game-tying score.
