NEW ORLEANS – Drew Brees threw four touchdown passes to break Johnny Unitas’ record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass and the New Orleans Saints finally got their first victory of the season in a 31-24 defeat of the San Diego Chargers on Sunday Night Football.
Brees came into the game tied with Unitas with a TD pass in each of the last 47 games. He left little in the way of suspense when he found Devery Henderson on a 40-yard score late in the first quarter.
Philip Rivers was was 27 of 42 for 354 yards and two touchdowns for the Chargers, who dropped to 3-2 on the season. The Saints are 1-4.
