It should be a great Week 17 in the NFL as teams vie for postseason berths in the NFC and playoff positioning in both conferences. (Check out all the scenarios HERE.)
In the AFC, the battle is for a first-round bye. If Houston, Denver and New England all win, the Texans and Broncos will have a week off and the Patriots will host a Wild Card game. New England can slide into a bye if either of the teams ahead of them slip up.
In the NFC, the situation is more complicated, but here’s the simplest way to look at it: if Green Bay wins, they get the #2 seed and a first-round bye. But if they are beaten by the Vikings, Minnesota earns a Wild Card berth. In the event of a Packers win, the Bears are next up for a playoff spot if they win. If the Packers lose, either San Francisco or Seattle could be the #2 seed, with the 49ers having the inside track with a win of their own. Finally, in the nightcap, Dallas and Washington face off with the NFC East title at stake.
It should be a great week and, as he has every week throughout the season, Westwood One analyst Boomer Esiason sat down with our Scott Graham to talk about it.
