ATLANTA – Alabama rushed for 350 yards, but it was AJ McCarron’s 45-yard bomb to Amari Cooper that made the difference as the Crimson Tide downed Georgia 32-28 in the SEC Championship Game.
Eddie Lacy rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns and T.J. Yeldon added 153 yards and another score for the Tide.
Georgia drove the length of the field and had a last-second chance to win the game, but time expired after Chris Conley hauled in Aaron Murray’s deflected pass and was tackled. The remaining few seconds ticked away as the Bulldogs had already used their last timeout.
Alabama will now face Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship Game in Miami on January 7th.
John Tautges and Terry Donahue called the action on Westwood One Sports.
