PHILADELPHIA – Duke trailed early, but dominated the final three quarters to defeat Syracuse 16-10 and win the second NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse championship in school history – and its second in the last four years.
The Orange led 5-0 and 6-1 early, but the Blue Devils fought right back, scoring 12 of the next 13 goals to take a decisive 13-7 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Duke was dominant in the faceoff circle throughout, winning 13 straight at one point and keeping possession for long stretches of the second half.
Jordan Wolf scored four times for Duke in the victory, while Josh Dionne and Josh Offit added hat trick of their own. Dylan Donahue had a hat trick of his own in defeat for the Orange.
Dave Ryan and Steve Panarelli called the action on Westwood One Sports.
