OMAHA, NE – The top overall seed at the College World Series is alive and kicking after North Carolina avoided elimination with a 4-2 victory over LSU on Tuesday afternoon.
Brian Holberton got the Tar Heels off to a strong start with a two-run home run in the top of 1st and North Carolina never trailed.
Trent Thornton got the win by going seven innings and allowing just two earned runs.
North Carolina will face the loser of tonight’s UCLA-NC State game in an elimination game on Thursday night. LSU’s season is over.
