OMAHA, NE – Hobbs Johnson and Chris McCue combined for a five-hit shutout and the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels are still alive at the College World Series thanks to a 7-0 win over in-state rivals NC State.
Michael Russell drove in three for the Tar Heels and Colin Moran added two RBIs in a three-hit night.
UNC moves on to face UCLA on Friday. The Tar Heels will need to beat the Bruins twice to reach the best-of-three championship series. NC State’s season is over.
