OMAHA, NE – Five games, five wins and just four runs allowed – that’s the formula UCLA used to win the 2013 College World Series and become the champions of NCAA baseball for the first time in school history.
On this night, Nick Vander Tuig threw eight shutout innings and Eric Filia drove in five runs as the Bruins downed Mississippi State 8-0.
The four runs allowed by UCLA is a record for the CWS since metal bats were approved for use in 1974.
Kevin Kugler and Scott Graham called the action on Westwood One Sports.
