Our 2013 NCAA Football schedule continues Saturday from Jacksonville as Georgia faces Florida. We’ll have complete coverage beginning at 3 PM Eastern on our WestwoodOne affiliates coast-to-coast and streaming live right here on WestwoodOneSports.com!
To get you ready for the game, our analyst Tim Brown, who will call the game, filed this preview:
When I saw this game on the schedule earlier in the year, I was pumped. I thought it’d be the game of the year, but all of a sudden, it’s turned into a bit of a ho-hummer. That said, obviously for these two teams it’s still really important. Sure, a national championship is out of the question right now, but it’s still a rivalry game and will have a huge bearing on how either team looks back on its season.
Getting Todd Gurley and Michael Bennett back is huge for Georgia. Not having those guys is one of the main reasons why Georgia comes into this game in the situation they’re in (4-3 overall, 3-2 SEC). In college football, injuries are magnified. This isn’t the NFL where the “next man up” is a paid professional. At that level, you expect a guy to go out there and do the job. He may not be Megatron, but he can catch the ball. But at this level, it’s just so different. You’re looking for a young man to mature on the spot both mentally and physically and it can be very difficult. Not having those two horses has been a huge issue for Georgia, but now they get them back and they should be rolling. In any case, I think this game is going to be a dogfight and I’m looking forward to calling the action.
