DENVER – Once again, it’ll be Brady versus Manning as the Denver Broncos held on for a 24-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday at Sports Authority Field. The win sets up an AFC Championship Game matchup with the New England Patriots coming to Denver.
Peyton Manning and the Broncos led 24-7 after Knowshon Moreno’s TD run early in the fourth quarter, but Philip Rivers and the Chargers answered with back-to-back scoring drives sandwiched around a successful onside kick.
After getting within a single score, the Chargers elected to kick it deep and Manning and the Broncos picked up three first downs to run out the clock.
Manning and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady have faced off in the postseason three times before, with New England coming out on top twice and Manning’s Indianapolis Colts getting a victory in the 2006 AFC Championship Game on the way to a Super Bowl victory.
Kevin Harlan and Dan Fouts called the action on WestwoodOne Sports.
