Countdown to Sochi: Speed skater Shani Davis

01/13/2014

Shani DavisShani Davis will try to accomplish a feat in Sochi next month that has never been done by any American athlete: to win gold in the same event in three consecutive Winter Games.

The speed skating star already made history once, becoming the first African-American athlete to win a gold medal in an individual sport at the Winter Games when he won the 1,000 meters in Torino in 2006. He repeated the feat four years later in Vancouver and he’ll have a chance to make it a three-peat in Sochi.
