BUFFALO – Vee Sanford’s driving jump shot with 3.8 seconds remaining helped the Dayton Flyers upset No. 6-seed Ohio State, 60-59, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Sanford finished with 10 points and Dyshawn Pierre added 12 as No. 11-seed Dayton advanced to meet the winner of Syracuse vs. Western Michigan.
The Flyers led 33-30 at halftime and the lead see-sawed in the final minutes. Following Sanford’s go-ahead bucket, Ohio State’s Aaron Craft missed a hurried jumper at the buzzer.
