NASHVILLE – Muffet McGraw has been on this stage before. Her Notre Dame teams have reached the national championship game on three previous occasions, with a title under their belts in 2001. But with a 37-0 record matched head-to-head with Connecticut’s 39-0 mark, Tuesday’s national championship game is unprecedented.
In past years, the Irish and Huskies have played repeatedly through a rigorous conference schedule. This season though, Tuesday’s encounter is the lone matchup in what has become one of college basketball’s fiercest rivalries.
