PHILADELPHIA – Shayne Gostisbehere had a goal and two assists as Union College rode a balanced attack to the first national championship in school history with a 7-4 victory over Minnesota.
Seven different Dutchmen scored in the victory. Union led 4-2 after a high-scoring first period then held on as Minnesota tried to get back in the game.
The small school from Schenectady, New York was playing in its first national championship game. Minnesota has five titles in program history.
