CWS Highlights: Ole Miss 2 – Texas Tech 1

John GatlinOMAHA, NE –  In yet another pitchers duel from the 2014 CWS, the starters took shutouts into the seventh inning.  In the bottom of the seventh, Ole Miss broke the stalemate with an RBI single by Holt Perdzock.  The Rebels pitching shutout lasted into the ninth inning when Texas Tech’s Anthony Lyons hit a SAC fly RBI that tied the score.  The game winner came in the bottom of the ninth when John Gatlin hit a walk-off RBI single that gave Mississippi the 2-1 win.

The loss eliminates Texas Tech while Ole Miss will wait to play again on Thursday in a game against the looser of Tuesday’s night game.

Kevin Kugler and John Bishop called the action from TD Ameritrade Park.
