OMAHA, NE – Nathan Thornhill threw eight shutout innings for Texas as the Longhorns defeated Vanderbilt 4-0 to set up a winner-take-all game Saturday for a spot in the best-of-three championship series.
Thornhill allowed just six hits and struck out five. Texas as a team ran its scoreless innings streak to 19, two days after a 1-0 blanking of UC Irvine.
John Curtiss pitched a perfect ninth to finish out the victory, which forced a deciding games between the teams on Saturday.
