OMAHA, NE – Vanderbilt outlasted UC Irvine 6-4 in a back-and-fourth winners bracket battle. The Commodores grabbed an early two run lead in the first. Then it was the Anteaters turn in the second when they posted four runs. Vanderbilt climbed back on top for good with three runs on three hits in the fifth to go up 5-4.
The 6-4 win advances Vanderbilt to a Friday game with three days to rest. For UC Irvine, they will have to beat Texas a second time on Wednesday for the right to play Vanderbilt again.
