U.S. Open: Kaymer takes record 10-under score into third round Saturday

Martin KaymerPINEHURST, NC – It wasn’t enough that he shot a 5-under-par 65 in Thursday’s first round of the U.S. Open golf championship at Pinehurst. Martin Kaymer did it again Friday, turning in a 36-hole scorecard of 10-under-par 130 – a record at the halfway point of the tournament.

Kaymer, a 29-year-old from Germany, became just the sixth person in the 114-year history of the U.S. Open to reach double-digits under par during the championship.

Brendon Todd shot 3-under-par on Friday to enter Saturday’s round six shots back at 136, while Kevin Na sits at 137. Of Kaymer’s play, Na said, “He looks flawless.”
