EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Chicago defense forced three turnovers and Martellus Bennett hauled in a pair of TD receptions as the Chicago Bears defeated the New York Jets 27-19 on Monday night.
The Bears got off to a fast start, with Ryan Mundy’s touchdown return of a Geno Smith staking them to a 7-0 lead. A muffed punt return was recovered by Chicago just a few minutes later and Jay Cutler took advantage of the short field with a 40-yard touchdown drive that culminated with a short touchdown pass to Martellus Bennett.
The Jets tried to rally and were down by eight when their final drive was stopped in the red zone by the Chicago defense.
Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason called the action on Westwood One.
