SANTA CLARA, CA – Trailing 20-7 entering the fourth quarter, the Chicago Bears rallied for three unanswered touchdowns to beat San Francisco 28-20 in the first regular season game at brand new Levi’s Stadium.
The 49ers had also led 17-0 late in the second quarter before the Bears managed to get a touchdown just before halftime on Jay Cutler’s first of three touchdown passes to Brandon Marshall.
In the fourth quarter, Cutler and Marshall connected again to cut the deficit to 20-14, then rookie Kyle Fuller picked off a Colin Kaepernick pass to give the Bears first and goal. A Cutler TD pass to Martellus Bennett on the very next play put Chicago ahead for good. Fuller’s interception was one of his two on a night the Bears forced four San Francisco turnovers.
Kevin Kugler and James Lofton called the action on Westwood One.
