OXFORD, MS – Ole Miss was eliminated from the College Football Playoff race with three losses in its last four games – but the sting of those defeats will seem like a distant memory after the Rebels knocked in-state rivals Mississippi St. out of the Playoff race with a 31-17 win on Saturday afternoon.
Jaylen Walton led the way on the ground with 140 yards on 12 carries – most of which he picked up on a 91-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs were fourth in the CFP standings heading into the weekend, but are unlikely to have a shot at the Playoff now.
John Sadak and Chris Doering called the action on Westwood One Sports.
