This Week in the NCAA: Lauren Hill’s wish comes true

11/07/2014

Lauren Hill, Patt SummitThis week we bring you the story of Lauren Hill, a freshman at Mount St. Joseph in Ohio.

A little over a year ago, Lauren was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a form of incurable brain cancer. When she was told she had only a year to live, she had one wish: to play in a college basketball game.

Lauren’s wish came true this past weekend, when she started for her team in the season-opener, which was moved forward and switched to a larger venue in Cincinnati to accommodate a huge crowd. The game raised $70,000 for The Cure Starts Now. You can learn more or make a donation at TheCureStartsNow.org.
