This Week in the NCAA: MSU women take first cross country crown

NCAA Cross Country AthleticsChampionship season is underway in the fall sports, with titles decided in field hockey, Division III women’s volleyball and cross country at the Division I and D-III levels.

In field hockey, Connecticut took the title with a 1-0 victory over old Big East rival Syracuse.

At the cross country championships in Terre Haute, Indiana, the Colorado Buffaloes took the team trophy for their fifth championship since 2001, while the Spartans of Michigan State won their first-ever women’s team title.
