SANTA CLARA, CA – The San Diego Chargers rallied from a three-touchdown halftime deficit to keep their postseason hopes alive, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 38-35 in overtime on Saturday night.
San Diego trailed 28-7 at halftime, but came all the way back thanks to three Philip Rivers touchdown passes and a fumble return for a touchdown in the second half.
The Chargers also recovered a fumble in overtime as it look like San Francisco was marching toward a score. On the ensuing drive, San Diego moved into field goal range before Nick Novak nailed a 40-yarder to win it.
The Chargers are now 9-6, while the 49ers dropped to 7-8.
