In 2005, North Carolina’s Sean May led the way as the Tar Heels captured a first national title since 1993 and the first for head coach Roy Williams.
May dominated the NCAA Tournament and was named its Most Outstanding Player, averaging 22 points and 12 rebounds, and equaled his father Scott, who won the same award as a member of Indiana’s 1976 championship team.
In the championship game victory over Illinois, May scored 26 points on 10 of 11 shooting.
