ST. ANDREWS, SCOTLAND – Less than a month removed from a spectacular collapse at the U.S. Open, Dustin Johnson finds himself back at the top of a major leaderboard after firing an opening-round 65 on Thursday at St. Andrews.
Johnson’s bogey-free round has him a shot ahead of a group of six players that shot 66: Robert Streb, Retief Goosen, Paul Lawrie, Jason Day, Zach Johnson and Danny Willett.
Jordan Spieth, looking for his third major victory of the year, shot a 67 in the first round and sits two shots off the lead.
