DENVER – The 17th battle of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady went to Manning and now the Denver Broncos are headed back to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.
Manning threw a pair of touchdown passes to Owen Daniels and the Denver defense held Brady and the New England Patriots in check most of the day in a 20-18 victory.
In a thrilling ending, Brady found Rob Gronkowski twice on fourth down – once to get to the red zone – and a second time for a touchdown that set up a potential game-tying two-point conversion attempt. But the Denver defense held on to send the Broncos to Super Bowl 50.
Kevin Harlan, Boomer Esiason and Dan Fouts called the action on Westwood One.
