ST. LOUIS, MO – Fifteenth-seed Middle Tennessee State never trailed on their way to a shocking 90-81 First round upset over second-seeded Michigan State.
The Blue Raiders–winners of the Conference USA Tournament–were spurred by all five starter scoring in double figures, including 21 points from Reggie Upshaw and another 19 from Giddy Potts.
Forward Matt Costello paced the Spartans with 22 points–on 9-of-10 shooting–and 9 rebounds in the losing effort.
Middle Tennessee State will look to continue their Cinderella run when they face tenth-seeded Syracuse in the Second round on Sunday.
