LOUISVILLE – Perry Ellis shot 10-of-17 and scored 27 points to drive Kansas past Maryland, 79-63, in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen at KFC Yum! Center.
Wayne Selden added 19 points for the Jayhawks, and Landen Lucas contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds as KU advanced to meet Villanova in Saturday’s Elite Eight.
Kansas broke a 43-43 tie with a 9-0 run early in the second half, and later kept Maryland without a field goal for nearly seven minutes. Kansas mounted its largest lead, by 16 points, with 4:06 to play.
Rasheed Sulaimon paced the Terrapins with 18 points.
