DALLAS – Sydney Wiese led Oregon State with 18 points and three game-winning free throws in the final half-minute to pace OSU to a regional championship and their first Final Four appearance. The No. 2-seed Beavers beat No. 1-seed Baylor 60-57 to end the Bears’ 23-game win streak.
Wiese hit a free throw with 33.6 seconds remaining to regain a 58-57 lead, and following a defensive stop, hit two more with 7.3 seconds to play. The Beavers led from 4-3 in the first quarter until Nina Davis’ tip-in with 6:52 remained in the fourth period.
Alexis Jones led Baylor, which fell in a regional final for the third straight season, with 19 points.
