NEW YORK, NY – Behind 20 points and 11 rebounds from junior forward Tyler Cavanaugh, fourth-seeded George Washington rolled past second-seeded San Diego State on their way to a 65-46 victory and a spot in the NIT finals, where they will take on top-seeded Valparaiso on Thursday night.
San Diego State’s only double-figure scorer, Dakarai Allen, needed a 6-of-6 night from the charity stripe to get his 13 points, as the Aztecs–who struggled throughout the season to find ways to put the ball in the basket–collectively shot an arid 28.8 percent from the field.
Scott Graham and Kelly Tripucka called the action on Westwood One Sports.
