TAMPA, Fla. – Up 2-0 in the third period, North Dakota squandered the lead, but recovered late to edge Denver 4-2 on Thursday night in the semifinals of the Frozen Four at Amalie Arena. The Fighting Hawks will make their first appearance in the championship game in 11 years.
Nick Schmaltz scored the game-winner for North Dakota with less than a minute remaining. Rhett Gardner capped off the win with an empty-netter in the final seconds. Drake Caggiula led the Hawks with two goals.
