OAKMONT, PA – Weather was the story of the day on Thursday at the 116th U.S. Open as play was suspended when only a handful of golfers had managed to complete their opening rounds.
Andrew Landry was on his 18th hole of the day and working on the round of the day when storms halted play for good. Landry was three-under through 17. Bubba Watson was -2 through 14 and Danny Lee was at the same score through 13 holes. Amateur Scottie Scheffler had the low round in the clubhouse with a one-under 69.
Play will resume early on Friday with some golfers set to play 36 holes on a rain-softened course.
