Play-by-play Announcers
Steve Quis joins Compass Media Networks as the lead play-by-play announcer for Angels baseball after spending the past six years as a member of the San Diego Padres television broadcast team, four of those calling play-by-play. He was also Padres beat reporter for MLB Network. Steve currently works as a television play-by-play announcer for Pac-12 baseball on Fox Sports Network and in the winter is the radio and television voice of San Diego State basketball and University of San Diego basketball. Steve started his broadcasting career in 1993 announcing Triple-A-baseball in Tucson, Arizona. He grew up in Fullerton, California and graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Media Arts.
TJ Rives is a sideline reporter for Tampa Bay Buccaneers radio and hosts Fox Sports Radio Saturday night. He was the play-by-play voice of USF Bulls basketball for 10 years and has also called college football, college basketball, the PGA Tour and the 2006 World Baseball Classic for SiriusXM. TJ resides in Tampa and will be calling play-by-play for all of the Tampa Bay Rays games that Compass Media Networks is broadcasting in 2013.
Analysts
Rob Dibble is a former closer and two-time All-Star for the Cincinnati Reds (1988-1993). He won the NLCS MVP and was a member of 1990 World Series Champion Cincinnati Reds. He recorded his 500th career strikeout in fewer innings (368) than any other pitcher in modern baseball history. His broadcast career began in 1998 as a baseball analyst for ESPN. Rob has also worked for The Best Damn Sports Show, SiriusXM Radio First Pitch and most recently for Fox Sports Tonight. He will be an analyst for Compass Media Networks’ baseball coverage in 2013.
Jeff Nelson was known for his spectacular slider as a relief pitcher for the Seattle Mariners (1992-1995, 2001-2003) and the New York Yankees (1996-2000). He was selected to the 2001 All-Star team and won four World Series as a reliever for the New York Yankees in 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Jeff fills in on KJR-AM – Seattle, and works as an analyst for MLB.com. Jeff can now be heard as a baseball analyst for Compass Media Networks.
Steve Phillips is the analyst on select Angels broadcasts on Compass Media Sports. Phillips is also a host on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio channel and former General Manager of the New York Mets. He has served as a game analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Baseball and Wednesday Night Baseball as well as guest host for ESPN Radio and frequent guest on New York’s Sports Radio WFAN.
