TD’s Extra Point: Sooners Gone Wild

11/01/2011

Oklahoma was obviously really mad at Texas Tech for ending the Sooners’ 39-game home win streak a couple weeks ago. So what did they do? They destroyed Kansas State’s miraculous undefeated season and, in turn, the homecoming festivities this past weekend in Manhattan, Kansas.

From the opening drive on, the Sooners were way, way too much for the Wildcats. Although Kansas State played well and stayed close in the first half, the second half was a dominating performance by Oklahoma.

The Sooners are a powerful team with a great QB, an outstanding group of receivers as good or better than anyone in the country, and one of the best-looking teams I have seen all year. I mean, when these guys get off the bus for the game, they are PRETTY!! Yes, I said PRETTY. Huge linemen on both sides of the ball, sleek DBs and wide receivers, and linebackers that just look Mean – with a capital M.

The BCS computers dropped Oklahoma way too far off the football map following their loss to Tech. Come on: anyone can have one bad game. Don’t count these guys out yet in the National Championship race. Their game with Oklahoma State is going to be a great matchup and the winner might find themselves playing the SEC champion for all the glory.

Here’s a hypothetical: Let’s say Boise State is ranked ahead of Oklahoma before the Sooners play OSU. If Oklahoma wins that game, I’m sure they would leap over Boise State to play for the championship at the Superdome in New Orleans on January 9th. We all know that the BCS will let Boise State play in ONE of their games, but not the biggest one.

Terry Donahue’s Extra Point: The Kickoff Classic

06 September 2012
The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic was once again an outstanding event to open the college football season. Westwood One’s game that I called between Clemson…
