DALLAS (12/11/11) – Eli Manning led the Giants to 14 late fourth quarter points – and Jason Pierre-Paul blocked Dallas’ attempt at a game-tying field goal – as the New York Giants took control of first place in the NFC East with a wild, 37-34 victory on Sunday Night Football.
Manning connected with Jake Ballard to get New York (7-6) to within five points of the Cowboys (7-6), then drove his team 58 yards in 1:26 to set up Brandon Jacobs’ go-ahead touchdown with :51 remaining.
Tony Romo answered by getting the Cowboys into field goal range, but Dan Bailey’s 47-yard field goal was blocked. The teams now have identical records, with New York owning the tiebreaker. They’ll meet again at MetLife Stadium in Week 17.
