DAYTON, OH – The man nicknamed “Four” fittingly made his presence felt at the First Four.
Vermont freshman Patrick “Four” McGlynn scored a game-high 18 points, leading the America East champion Catamounts (24-11, 13-3) past Lamar (23-12, 11-5) by a 71-59 final on Wednesday night.
Vermont earns the #16 seed in the Midwest region, and a date with top-seeded North Carolina Friday afternoon in Greensboro.
It was Lamar’s first loss in seven games since head coach Pat Knight blasted his own players during a post-game press conference following a loss to Stephen F. Austin.
Dave Ryan and Alaa Abdelnaby called the action on the Westwood One Radio Network.
