NEW ORLEANS, LA – A hot, recent topic within sports media circles poses the question of whether the Kentucky Wildcats could beat an NBA team. That would seem to suggest that the Wildcats will breeze past their mere collegiate opposition in New Orleans with ease, en route to a national championship.
But UK head coach John Calipari knows it won’t be that easy. Not even close.
As the prohibitive favorites to cut down the nets on Monday night, Calipari knows he must first get past a red-hot, Rick Pitino-coached Louisville team before a national championship game can become a reality. He also knows that his incredibly-talented squad is also incredibly young, and there is no telling how that inexperience will manifest itself on the game’s grandest stage at the Final Four.
Jim Gray caught up with the Kentucky head coach prior to their epic clash with in-state rival Louisville.
