PHOENIX, AZ – You’ll have to forgive Louisville head coach Rick Pitino if he has a hard time developing animosity for the team on the other bench in the West Regional final on Saturday.
And more specifically, their head coach.
It was 25 years ago when Pitino announced his presence on the college basketball coaching scene when he took Providence to the Final Four…a team led by star guard Billy Donovan, who now stands in the way of Pitino earning another Final Four invite. Donovan will look to steer his Florida Gators to the promised land, as they seek a third national championship.
Dave Sims caught up with Pitino ahead of this very intriguing matchup against his former pupil.
