OMAHA, NE – It had been 11 years since a 15-seed had upset a 2-seed in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, and with the exception of Kentucky, the Missouri Tigers were perhaps the most popular Final Four pick amongst hoops fans.
None of it mattered to Norfolk State.
The Spartans pulled off the first true shocker of this year’s tournament, sending Mizzou home early after an 86-84 victory. The MEAC Tournament champions will now face 7th-seeded Florida in 3rd-round action on Sunday.
