NEW ORLEANS, LA – Vanderbilt’s 16-2 run in the game’s final five minutes powered them to an upset win over Kentucky in the SEC championship game, 71-64. The loss ended a 24-game winning streak for Kentucky (32-2). The conference title is the Commodores’ first since 1951.
Vanderbilt (24-10) received 18 points from Jeffrey Taylor and 17 from John Jenkins. The Commodores defense stifled high-powered Kentucky, limiting the Wildcats to just 23-64 shooting from the field. Kentucky failed to score from the floor in the game’s final 8:04.
Anthony Davis notched 12 points and pulled 10 rebounds in the loss for Kentucky.
