DENVER, CO – For Muffet McGraw and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, a theme for their post-season journey could very well be “unfinished business.”
Many fans thought a Notre Dame title was a foregone conclusion last season, after the Irish topped mighty UConn in the national semifinals to set up a date with unheralded Texas A&M. But the Lady Aggies stunned many by defeating Notre Dame, and denying the program its second national title. The Irish, led by center Ruth Riley, won it all in 2001.
Once again, UConn stands in the way of a return trip to the finals for Notre Dame. The two Big East rivals will clash for the fourth time this season, with the Irish winning both regular season matchups, and the Lady Huskies prevailing in the Big East Tournament finals.
Krista Blunk caught up with Coach McGraw ahead of the game.
