OMAHA — DJ Baxendale shut down the Golden Flashes of Kent State and Jake Wise drove in three runs as Arkansas won its first game at the 2012 College World Series 8-1.
Baxendale allowed just one run on three hits in six and one-third innings pitched.
Arkansas will face the winner of the South Carolina-Florida game on Monday, while Kent State gets the loser of that contest in an elimination game also on Monday.
Kevin Kugler and John Bishop called the action.
